German automakers can make a big difference, including in climate protection. With their vehicles, they are responsible for more CO2 emissions than many countries. Volkswagen would still be ahead of Australia in the ranking (16th place), Mercedes-Benz ahead of the Czech Republic (42nd place), BMW ahead of Austria (53rd place).
