Infographics on new registrations of all-electric cars in Germany
To secure the competiveness of its automotive industry and for climate protection, Germany needs a faster ramp-up of electromobility. Nevertheless, only 872 new EVs were registered per day in August 2024. For 15 million EVs by 2030, the figure would have to be 5,500 per day.
There are several instruments to boost sales - all of which should be used: Reduction of combustion subsidies (annual registration taxes and company car taxation rules), purchase incentives, minimum quotas, faster expansion of the charging infrastructure, involvement of Chinese manufacturers.
