The Finanzwissenschaftliche Forschungsinstitut an der Universität zu Köln (FiFo Köln) works in the field of independent economic research and policy advice. The activities of Germany's third oldest economic research institute (founded in 1927) are based on its own long-term research programs. The aim of the institute's work is to facilitate better policy-making.
Research and consulting go hand in hand. With this credo of policy-oriented research and scientific policy advice, FiFo Cologne works on numerous issues of sustainable financial and tax policy and on climate and environmental policy. Another focus is on federal governance in the European four-level system, with studies ranging from municipal and regional to EU funding.
